The Serbian National Internet Domain Registry Foundation (RNIDS) hosted the APTLD 88 (Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association) conference in Belgrade and had the pleasure of welcoming colleagues from national top-level domain registries from different parts of the world, experts on technical and legal aspects of registry operations, as well as numerous partners from the Internet community.

Over three days, from September 8th to 10th, a rich program was delivered. The community gathered by APTLD had the opportunity to follow and actively participate in discussions related to the development of domain management policies, international recommendations and the alignment of individual policies with global standards, issues and solutions concerning the technical infrastructure managed by registries, with inevitable attention given to domain security, verification, and accuracy of registrant data.
RNIDS endeavored to live up to its reputation as a good host of international gatherings also through the engagement of its experts on panels. RNIDS staff moderated or served as panelists in sessions dedicated to regulatory standards, security, international cooperation, and the role of national domain registries in safeguarding the integrity of the Internet.
The CEO of RNIDS, Dejan Đukić, moderated a panel dedicated to best practices in protecting the privacy of registrants, which offered different perspectives on maintaining the balance between privacy, security, and transparency.
Aleksandar Kostadinović, system administrator, actively participated in a discussion on the implementation of the ISO 27001 standard in registry operations, reflecting on the importance of international standards for the security and reliability of systems.
RNIDS Board member Dušan Stojičević was a panelist in two panels and moderated a session dedicated to the advantages and disadvantages of local and global DNS resolvers. The debate covered issues of performance, security, and digital sovereignty.
Matija Radunović, RNIDS CERT coordinator, took part in a discussion on risk management and incident response, sharing RNIDS’s experiences in building a resilient and secure system for managing national domains.
The panel dedicated to ccTLD strategies for remaining relevant in the face of rapid market changes, increasing security risks, and regulatory challenges was moderated by Dijana Milutinović, RNIDS Communications Manager.
Through active participation in the conference, RNIDS once again demonstrated its readiness to share its experiences, as well as to learn from other registries, in order to continue responsibly ensuring the seamless operation of the national domains .rs and .срб.
The multi-day program concluded with a Networking Day tour organized by RNIDS, during which international colleagues had the opportunity to get acquainted with Serbia’s historical and cultural heritage.
APTLD 88 is one in a series of international conferences hosted by RNIDS in recent years. So far, RNIDS has had the opportunity to host the communities gathered by RIPE, CENTR, DNS-OARC, as well as to be the host of ICANN’s global Universal Acceptance Day.
