1. Who can become an accredited registrar (OR) for .RS and .СРБ domains?
An accredited registrar (OR) can be a legal entity or sole proprietor with a registered seat in the Republic of Serbia that meets the technical, administrative and financial requirements defined by RNIDS and obtains official authorization to perform registration of national .rs and .срб domains.
Note: Foreign legal entities can become a registrar only if they have a registered legal entity or representative office in the Republic of Serbia.
Напомена: Инострана правна лица могу постати ОР само уколико имају регистровано правно лице или представништво у Републици Србији.
2. How do I become an accredited RNIDS registrar?
To become an accredited registrar, you need to submit a request to RNIDS, pass administrative and technical verification, successfully complete integration and testing, sign the agreement and pay the initial advance. After that, you gain access to the systems and become an accredited registrar for .RS and .СРБ domains.
3. What are the obligations of an accredited registrar (OR)?
An accredited registrar is required to operate in accordance with the Agreement on performing registrar activities, General terms and conditions for accredited registrars, Technical and administrative requirements for registrars, Procedures for registration of national internet domains, and other relevant RNIDS documents.
The registrar’s obligations include:
- performing domain registrations diligently and professionally,
- verifying the accuracy and up-to-dateness of registrant data,
- preventing unauthorized changes to data,
- maintaining available and functional services,
- providing customer support,
- timely forwarding of data to RNIDS,
- displaying the official OR logo and information about .RS/.СРБ domains on its website,
- enabling online purchase and payment for domain registrations.
4. What is the step-by-step accreditation process for an accredited registrar?
Submitting a Request for verification of administrative and technical capabilities.
The applicant fills in and submits to RNIDS the official form which initiates the process of checking conditions for obtaining registrar status.
Administrative verification of documentation
RNIDS verifies whether the applicant meets formal requirements — legal status, accuracy of data, contact points and required supporting documentation.
Technical integration and testing in the sandbox environment
After passing administrative verification, the applicant proceeds with technical integration of the system (EPP/technical interfaces) and completes mandatory RNIDS testing..
Signing the Agreement on performing national domain registration services
Once technical testing is successfully completed, the applicant signs the Agreement with RNIDS and becomes an accredited registrar.
Payment of the initial advance and activation
The accredited registrar pays the initial advance for the registration of 200 new domain names.
Publication on the official registrar list and activation in the production system
RNIDS officially lists the registrar on its website and activates access to production services. The registrar becomes operational.
5. I want to offer national domain registration, but 200 domains is too much for me and/or I don’t have technical resources.
In that case, you do not need to become an accredited registrar. You can work through a reseller model — i.e. sign an agreement with one of the existing accredited registrars and sell .rs and .срб domains via their system.
RNIDS does not accredit entities that cannot independently fulfill the administrative, technical and financial conditions for registrar status.
